Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) in London, was raised by the mother, grandmother, and her godparents. Her father left her family. As a child she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered anxiety linked to associations with words. Ford's interest in acting began when she was young. She was a part of at the National Youth Theatre. She had been accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after a short period of days, she realized that this school wasn't suitable for her. Ford decided to apply for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement at the third time, applied and won a place at Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring on Doctor Who. Ford was graduated in 1993, but, by that time she was already making her TV debut on an episode from 1991 from Surgical Spirit; she adopted the professional name "Catherine Tate". Tate began her TV debut in 1991and appeared in shows such as The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Tate also performed regularly at the theater, ultimately being a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedy, that were added to Tate's show in the year 1996.
