Awkwafina An American singer and actress began by releasing a humorous rap track which dealt with the subject of race and sexuality. Her fame grew into Hollywood after she released several rap songs. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. Alongside classical music and jazz, she started to study hip-hop during her teens. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies, and was learning Mandarin in Beijing for a time. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus on music. Her song My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit via the Internet and later appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. It also included viral hits like body-positive Queef and a wink-y home tour NYC Bitche$1. The song was is directly linked to the album The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her 2015 travel guide. She decided to pursue acting as a profession following the completion of her previous two ventures as a musician and author. As well as early shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she scored her first major role in a number of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
